"Corgis Down Under" Rules (N)etiquette 1. On this list, we ask that each person agree to post in a respectful and sincere manner. 2. While debate is encouraged as an ideal learning tool, flames or personal attacks will not be tolerated. 3. Flaming is the making derogatory statements toward a particular person, company, organization, etc. You may have had a bad experience with a particular person or business but please do not name them or make derogatory remarks about them on this list. Such comments could hold the list liable or could just hurt feelings of those who might be associated in some way with the person or company. 4. Before sending each post, please review it and consider whether your post is respectful of other people, especially if you disagree with them. How much offence have you decided to take at what someone else has written? If it is a post that you would not want to receive or read, please do not send it. 5. Always check to be sure that the "Caps Lock" button is off before you start typing! Typing in all caps on the Internet is called shouting and is considered rude. It is much harder to read too! 6. If a topic or personal clashes become a problem, I will write to the party or parties privately. If I am not seen to step in, it does not mean that I condone the behaviour or the topic. It means that I am willing to see where it will go, and to take action only if it becomes necessary. 7. Continual breaches of the rules, depending on severity, could lead to the member having their posts moderated, be blocked from posting messages, or have their subscription revoked. Sending an Email (or Posting to the List) 1. IF you are replying to a post, please REMOVE THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE - If you are referring to individual parts of the original message, please cut and paste these in. But DON'T send the entire message back in again. As you can imagine, after this happens a few times we can end up with VERY large messages. 2. IF you want to send a private reply to a specific post DON'T CLICK THE REPLY BUTTON. This will send your private email back to all list members and could cause you some acute embarrassment - or worse! Make sure you have entered the intended recipient's personal address into the "To" box before hitting the Send button. 3. If you post on a topic that you know or suspect may be controversial, always post the topic clearly in the subject line of your post so that people who wish to avoid that topic of discussion can steer clear. 4. All e-mail sent through this list is the property of the original author and must not be reproduced elsewhere, or sent to another list or to an individual without the author's permission. Commercial 1. Any commercial connection you have to a product that you include in a post should be clearly stated, however blatant advertising on the list is not permitted. A few lines in your signature containing information on your product are permissible. 2. This list is not to be used for the buying and selling of dogs (though you may mention the happy arrival of puppies). 3. However, you may mention a pet home waiting for a specific-type dog (e.g. older, pet puppy), requesting private replies 4. You may advise of any pre-loved items (dog-related), surplus to requirements, you wish to sell or give away. 5. Recommendations as to coat products, foods, etc are welcome, but medical treatment should be always left to the medical specialists and experts. 6. Corgis Down Under (or the list owner or individual members) cannot be held responsible for any product or action taken by any individual whether they be a list member or a member of the public. |
